I would say that the part of the competition, where score matters the most, should have the most practice time. For someone like me who doesn't compete, the game is what I want it to be. I don't care if others don't like the 90 I shoot and I find more enjoyment in the long part of the game than I do the short. I would be a better scorer if the opposite were true, but for me it is not. Score is important, but not the most important part of my enjoyment of the game. The same is true for my other recreational activity of fishing. I do enjoy catching big fish, and I do enjoy catching limits of fish, but neither is my only goal and my satisfaction is only partially based upon achieving either.
