Wow, close call. Good thing it didn't hit you in the head. The knob on top of the canister that holds the pool filter stripped and it wouldn't allow the top to come off. Watched some YouTube videos and one guy pried it off with a paint can opener.
Then I saw some videos where the top exploded off and one guy lost an eye and another had a skull fracture. Went to Pinch a Penny and the guy said to hold your hand on top and push down as you turn the pump on and then off quickly and it will pop off without incident.
He was right. Replaced the knob and back in business. But after watching those videos I'll never have my head directly above the canister. And I'll always hold my hand on top when turning the pump on after cleaning the filter.
