Par4QC Scrap yards buy them. Probably around $4/lb..
No scrap yards within 50 miles.
Rickochet 😲Damn, you do live in the sticks!!
Must be why there is so much "Americana" sitting in people's backyards down that way. 🤣
Sledge Hammer.
Throw them in an outdoor fire.

No fires allowed in my area. Plus I don't think tossing Lith batts in a fire is a good idea. Plan to just cut up the phones on my bandsaw and put in recycle bin. Still pondering on the batts. Lowes used to have a bin at the store to put batteries and will see if they still do that.
Rickochet Best Buy and such places used to have a bin in the entry foyer for old phones.
If you are tossing them, the recycling center doesn't want them. Just regular trash.
Rickochet a bandsaw! That'd do it. The circuit boards in phones are made of fiberglass, do your best not to inhale the phonedust.

I did look at that one briefly. Thanks.
Rickochet I think you could smack them with a hammer then send them in as e waste.
I smashed ours with a 5 lb sledge hammer, cut up the SIM card and threw them in the trash. Forgot all about the batteries.

Phones are a non-issue now. They cut up easily on my bandsaw. Just need to find a store with a bin for the batts.
Rickochet I don't know about your area, but some of the Home Depot and Staples stores by us have battery recycling boxes you can toss old cell phone and other rechargeable batteries in.

Same saw I cut graphite shafts with. It has a 2" vac fitting and dust is vacuumed out while cutting and filtered.
Try Batteries Plus. Around here we have ECO Recycling that will do it too.
