Rick finally turns it around and no doubt it’s mostly due to his playing partner. Iona Stephen can golf her ball and I feel like her playing with him was his key to playing well.

They play the Crail golf society. The views of this place are outstanding. If I ever go back to Scotland I’m going to play it.

100% agree. Unlike when he plays with Guy, he kept his head. More testosterone flowing around the attractive playing partner? I know I hit my best tee shots when the cute cart girl is around.

Apparently it’s the inspiration for the course in Golf in the Kingdom, one of my favorites. It’s definitely on my bucket list. Based mostly off Rick Shiels and Peter Finch’s videos, my Dream Scotland list would be Prestwick, Crail, Kingsbarns, and the Old Course.

A course that I've played a couple of times (although not for the best part of 20 years), and very much a traditional Scottish links, fitting into the land that's available rather than forcing the land to conform (the newer course at Crail - the Craighead) is a good example of the latter, and a lesser course for it, for all that it's 'championship standard'). It's a bit out of the way (about as far east as you can go in Fife), but definitely worth making the journey for if you're ever in the area.

Overall I found people to be very friendly in Scotland. The caddie I had at the Old Course was a member at Kingsbarns. He offered to get me on there to play with him.

Not as bad as the cover picture for the video makes out, but it was reasonably windy for at least part of the round - Rick hit a solid drive on one hole into the wind, and it went not much over 200 yards (where he's usually in the 280 to 300 range). I've played in stronger winds than that, but not by much and not very often.

Now if one of the regular senior curmudgeon group of G'Buzzer's who regularly shoots in the 80's range.....shot 75. I'm all agog!!! 😆
