If chemical, must have avobenzone, preferably at 3% or more (in addition to the other sunscreen agents).
If mineral, zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide.
The zinc or titanium ones tend to be hard to get to absorb into the skin, so they can make your face, 'a whiter shade of pale.'
Some of the newer micronized zinc preparations minimize that.
I always use chemical sunscreens. For playing golf, 50 SPF. And remember that the chemicals break down over time when exposed to UV light, so they havemto reapplied if you are going to be out in the sun for a long time.
Biore makes a sunscreen for the Japanese market called 'Biore UV, watery essence, aqua rich' that goes in faster than any sunscreen I have ever used. Great protection from both UVA and UVB rays. Available at Amazon. I hope I don't regret telling people about this product. I hope they never run out of it.
