bogeypro You can't "play golf" until you can "play hit ball solidly consistently", if you can't do that then "playing golf" is a lesson in frustration.
Well, I might just be hardheaded as hell because I still cannot figure out the diff between.....'hit ball solidly' and not be frustrated.
ex. ....last round I played was with 2 fellas I did not know. Both could really hit the ball well and used nothing but irons off the tees, even on the long Par 4 holes. They then also hit those irons amazingly, to me, from anywhere on the FW or out of the rough. I mean there was 'POP' when the ball was struck. Do not recall them hitting any GIR, and end of day, I beat hell outta them scorewise. And, I did play well/hit the ball well, for me. Liked every shot except maybe just a couple. No big deal to me/for me. I'm happy walking off every time.
Do they know 'how to play'?? Or did they go home thinking damn, I hit the ball well on every shot, tough course?? Were they pissed at their scores??
I do not understand. I just think they were like me....played 18, had a good time, no worries. All golf is good.
Sneakylong If I owned my own course the first thing I'd do to make the game easier is I wouldn't cut the fairway grass as short which would allow more forgiveness and margin of error.
Come to the Midwest and play. Only short grass you'll find in my area is on the greens. And then you will bitch that they are slow, and you'll also complain about the grass on the tee boxes; rarely under 2-3" . Rare it is, that I'll get more than 10 yds. roll any more on flat FWs. Very rare.
