Here's my lottery story, years ago in Calif. they started a thing called "The Big Spin".
You basically got selected if you sent in some lucky scratch off's that said Big Spin on them.
This was back in 1986 I believe and my grandmother (the lucky one) got one of those scratch off's.
She sends it in to the lottery and damn if they didn't contact her to come spin the wheel about a month later,
BUT not wanting to fly to Sacramento...she sent "MR.Unlucky" me instead!
I go on the tv show, see the wheel on stage (which looked way smaller than it did on tv),
did a quick interview with the host Geoff Edwards, and he tells me I'm now spinning the wheel
for a potential $6.2 million......
There was one slot on the wheel that had a progressive value by adding $25,000 for every spin til
someone hit the big pot.
Like I said the wheel looked pretty small standing next to it, I'm pretty nervous just being on the stage
as I give the wheel a spin.....like a it had a magnet in the $10,000 slot (the lowest value at that time),
that's where the ball almost immediately went to.
I walk off stage with my winnings and the first stop contestants' make is a visit with IRS.
They take 20% of everyone's winnings right then and there, wound getting a check in mail
a couple weeks later for $8,000.
I bet granny would've won a LOT more than I did!😉
