The rule book was published today in French together with the announcement that the small handy format "players edition" that fits any golf bag will no longer be published in paper form, (amateur?) players during play have to consult the rules with a smartphone from now on!!! This is a common descision of the R&A an USGA to please the eco-warriors.
Uptill now the use of cell phones, iPods, etc. during PGA competitions is forbidden and will result in a general penalty and /or disqualification. This will be an interesting development seeing the pros and caddys consulting their smart phones during play : Patrick Reed consults the rules of golf (LOL) or gets a GPS distance reading from one of the apps? Who can tell the difference.
