Prom Night (1980)

Never saw this one with Jamie Lee Curtis and Leslie Nielsen before, and don’t much care now that I have. Movie was presented in such a way as to provide many candidates for the mystery killer, but I knew all along. All the contrivance was unnecessary and made for little continuity. One of the actresses has a very fine and interesting pair though, however briefly displayed.

Otherwise, it was so-so, but it did have JLC in it, who was popular then.

From Beyond (1986)

Looks like it was done by the same crew and actors that did Re-Animator, which was perverse and was one of my favorites when I was young. Also easily looks like it could have been the inspiration for Hellraiser. A wild experiment that causes the mind to see and do things outside of the visible and normal spectrum. Interesting and a bit disgusting.

Re-Animator was a cult classic. Of course I saw it as a kid and haven't seen it since so maybe not. But it was one crazy movie.

Ever watch the Spanish version? It was shot on the same sets but at night after the Universal version was finished for the day. Lots of critics think it's superior. But the guy playing Dracula is no Lugosi.

Halloween Movies Kids Edition: We kicked off our Spooky Season with Monsters High. On the kid's movie scale of "Classic" to "No one Loves their Kids Enough to Suffer Through This" it's a solid "Held My Attention for More Than Half the Movie"

Dead & Buried (1981)

An 80’s movie that feels like it’s from the 60’s or 70’s excepting the make-up effects. Everything about the movie feels low grade, yet somehow it made for a good horror movie. Lots of violence, not particularly scary or convincing. Yet it was still weirdly compelling and uses a gimmick that was done well both before and after, but this one brings it to an unreal reality.

Spuzz I never saw it until yesterday. Some YouTuber listed it as an unappreciated gem. I wouldn't go as far as calling it a gem, but I have to say that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. For most of the movie I didn't feel like Farentino was a good lead, but in the end he may have been as good for the role as anyone could have been. Albertson gets to ham it up a bit, although not really in a comedic way.

Pre-Freddie Robert Englund as well and I was/am a fan of those movies.
Funny, I checked his Wiki and saw his 1977 movie Eaten Alive and I remembered him in that one (briefly iirc. lol)

I don't watch horror movies for the most part. I just don't like them. My wife on the other hand loves them.
Just one more thing we are different about I guess.

Night of the Demons (1988)

First half is the campiest movie I’ve ever seen. Second half morphed into a gore fest. On the whole it wasn’t a terrible horror movie mainly because it is different. It is a bunch of teens (adult actors acting as teens) trapped in a possessed building on Halloween night. However, it’s still different in a bad and interesting way.

However, anything with Linnea Quigley in it makes it more interesting.

Spuzz She has one of the most memorable, and gratuitous scenes ever in this movie. The lead, Cathy Podewell, portrays a beautiful girl next door type. The movie itself almost seems to be a partial parody/homage to The Evil Dead. Too over the top early, but turns more seriously imitative later.
