Anyone here have IP TV? A friend suggested that I look into it. I looks a lot less expensive than cable. If you have it, what are the good and bad things about it? Which version do you have? It looks like there are a lot of versions or options. I'd have a hard time picking which to subscribe to. I'd need one that has the 4 major networks and a terrific sports package as well as lots of movies. Are they difficult to get hooked up?

What does IP TV mean? I disconnected from cable a few years ago. Would never go back. But I have never heard those four letters put together in that way.

Internet protocol television. Looking into it myself at the moment due to ever increasing costs of satellite/cable services, although I'll need to factor in cost of a couple of wifi boosters to improve coverage in a couple of "dark" spots.

It's streaming rather than on cable. You still need the internet to access it. I looked at it a bit and am interested but
I'm not computer savvy enough to really understand it all. You can get packages from free to around $65 per month.
They each seem to offer a lot of channels and many of them lean toward sports or movies but seem to have a little of everything. Search IPTV online and there a many articles concerning the best offers.

mulegolf OK, well I have been streaming for several years. I didn't know anybody was still using cable, to be honest.
We like Hulu.

sdandrea1 I have Tivo with a cable card. Spectrum has been threatening to discontinue support for the cable card, As soon as that happens we're switching to YouTube TV.

Sarnella Pretty much.
We had a 'dumb tv and we just bought a Roku stick and plugged it in and we were good to go.
Now both of our tv's are 'smart tv's,' so streaming capability is built in.

We’ve been doing YouTube TV for years now. Honestly it’s been great and we seem to never loose service. When we had cable it was at least once a month we’d lose connection for a few hours.

I've used a IPTV before. It can be great and it can be a giant headache. Make sure you have a good VPN.

I have a smart TV, I just refuse to connect it to the internet. I stream whatever I want to watch through my laptop and have that wired to my TV.

We use the Hulu Live TV now. It's fine. Disney bought Hulu, so now Hulu also gets Disney+ and ESPN+. I expect that change will result in continuous price hikes so we'll try something else in the future.

We switched to YouTube TV partly due to @sdandrea1 Steve’s standard of approval. 🙂
I dislike paying money to Google, but the product is very good. Our main TV has the YouTube TV app built in. On those that don’t, plugging in an Amazon Firestick enables the TV to get the service and others.
Can’t see going back to Dish or cable.

I'm almost that way. I somewhat understand but I'm having a problem deciding which service to select and have reservations about the hooking it up process. In addition, I don't want to loose access to my local channels for news, weather, etc. My son is hooked up to you tube tv and seems to like it so I may just do that, I'm not sure yet.

mulegolf I cut the cord ten years ago and stream everything with a firestick. I can watch any movie, TV show, local stations, live sports from around the world including PPV boxing and MMA all for free. I have a VPN but seldom use it. No problems.

You can try YouTube TV while you still have cable and see if you like it. We use the same YTTV account at both houses and we get the local news at both. I can help you over the phone if you like, or your son? There's no "hook up" persay as long as you have a smart TV and WiFi in the house with internet access. You just go to YTTV on your phone or PC, set up your account and then navigate to the YTTV app on YOUR TV.
