Golf ball balance

Anybody here test their golf ball's balance either with one of those spinners or the salt water trick?

No.... but i do check the weight and use a 'roundness' guage. 🙄

I use the older Check Go Golfball balancer. I think it works. I never tried balancing golfballs in salt water.

If you can balance it on a tee it's deemed to be fine.

I really only worry about the ball being in good shape. I've taken to dropping one on the concrete and listening to the sound it makes and checking how high it bounces compared to a known good ball.

Walterjn You west coast dudes are a just little different. You listen to the ball??? I simply pull one out of my pocket. I do not play the same brand. I agree about shape, I do not play a ball with any mark/scratch. Life is too short and I need all the help I can get.

Bravopilot I have a bunch of old balls that I was given. I was playing with most all of them. After a few that just hurt, I was dropping one on the concrete and a buddy told me that one is bad. The sound it was making was akin to a bad toe strike when it hit the ground. He dropped the one he was playing with and it made a much softer, less harsh sound. When both were dropped from the same height, the one I was playing didn't bounce as high.

I thought about getting one of those balance checkers years ago, but then I realized that would be a true descent into madness. Maybe when I retire and am looking for things to occupy my time, but I doubt it.

pellmell hmmm, so how does one know which way the line goes. There is 360* to choose from. As.lomg as the dot is on top it can point.in any direction?

ode The direction of the line doesn't matter after finding the high or low point. The key is the ball rolling end over end over that point.

Not quite, spinning a ball with min resistance will make it spin around the axis of max MOI, while a static float test will only reveal one (actually 2: top and bottom) point(s) on that plane.

The salt water method is also used to find off balanced dice.
