LogicalOne.....Thanks so much for posting the pics of the Golf Mechanics bending bloc above! It's not that I'm interested in buying it, b/c I have no use for it. However, the minute I looked at the first picture (with the two bolts sticking up out of the top of the tool) the proverbial "lightbulb went on in my head!"
A few weeks ago I bought an old Zebra putter with the double bend shaft on Ebay. When it came, I was disappointed that the shaft was WAY too upright, so the putter head sat on the heel. I've looked into having it bent, but I'm not planning to be in the area of The Golfworks anytime soon. I was in the local Golf Galaxy recently, and they had a machine for adjusting loft/lie of putters including a bending bar for a double bend shaft, but in talking to the guy there, it didn't seem to me that he knew what he was talking about. So, I've been thinking about ways that I could attempt to bend it myself.
When you posted your picture, I had an A-hah! moment. Those two big bolts sticking out of the top of the machine gave me an idea. I found two long 1/4 inch bolts in my collection and put them in my vice about 2-3 inches apart. Then I used those two bolts as my "bending bar" to exert pressure on the top bend of the shaft and bend it flatter.
At first it wasn't bending quick enough for me, and I didn't want it to break, so I took my torch and put a little heat
where I wanted it to bend, and VOILA....it bent!! I compared it to another old Zebra I had for my "model," and
the bend seems to match exactly! So....thanks for posting that picture!!!
