They're still smashing it. Wouldn't this kinda demonstrate it's the innovation in ball construction that changed the game and not really the equipment?
Yes,
The modern players are more physically fit than the golfers 3-4 decades ago.

Well sure there is that.
Release
true but doesn't explain why the results with the 43 inch, steel shafted persimmon are as long ( in the case of Koepka longer with the persimmon) than their driving distance on tour last year.
cool, Jack always said it was the ball
Weirfan
Fowler hits his modern day driver much longer, even longer by the carried distance. Not sure what happened to Koepka. Maybe he should make his modern day driver shorter and use a steel shaft with D-7 to E-3 swing weight.
Weirfan I suspect they were giving it a lash....never trust the numbers unless it's during the round/in competition. Lots of showing off to make it look like peeps have higher ss's then reality.....I know it's not necessary with these two guys, but in general
So we have wasted gazillions of $s on "modern" drivers when we could have been buying our drivers at flea markets and thrift shops for $5 each? Go figure..................

With an additional $172 you could by a bunch of wooden drivers rather than just one. 😎
The persimmon head is easier to shave off the face to gain distance. Wait, that would be non-conforming.
FauxAmish
I'm picturing Russ's barrel of Adams Redline drivers................only all persimmon. 😉
Hey - they're in a golf bag or a golf bag box. Not some shitty old barrel. 😉
I cant access the results. Can somebody please summarize for me? thanks
rsvman
Yes. Athletic tour players with insanely good skills can hit any club a mile.
shorter shafted , steel shafted , old school persimmon driver
Kopeka 306 yards , compared to his driving average on tour last year of 302.
Rickie 292 yards, compared to last years driving average of 301 yds
rsvman I cant access the results.
There, I inserted the tweets.
That's what I said..................
Weirfan Thanks. I guess not that surprising. Given the gear effect, they might actually hit more fairways, too.

With hack off a lot of roll out.
Would be interesting to see what the #'s would be if they got the spin down a tad.

Of course....my bad. WTF was I thinking?
You tell em Russ ... you tell em it's a shitty old Bag. 🤓
