Didn’t have my clubs with me on our little trip up north. So I got a set of clubs at the course that had a TM Spider. I sucked with it. My brother in law has several of the bulls eye type old putters.

He offered me one to play the round with and I declined. He sank two bombs with his John Reuter bulls eye putter. One on the 18th to win the back. Should’ve given it a try. 😏

I did try his at the putting green and it felt great. I know everything is heel toe weighted moi etc. with putters. But these brass putters of old were used by some of the best back in the day.

Anyone still playing one? He picks them up on EBay cheap.

Sneakylong changed the title to John Reuter Jr. Bulls Eye Putters .

They are a paint brush for an artist whose canvas is the putting green.

You can putt well with them, but if you are off the putter will not lie.

I still have a soft spot for the old Zebra putter. I can putt as well with one as I can with anything else.

I have about 15 Bulls Eye putters in many different configurations. So soft and great feel but the sweet spot is small. My favorite, believe it or not, is the ladies version (La Femme). Great on fast greens where you need feel. Really wonderful putter for those that don't have "Hands of Stone" like me...

I had one when I played on my high school team in the 60's. It was very popular back then. I didn't play much for about 20 years and picked it back up when components became available. I built a shit load of putters. Years later I pulled the old bulls eye out of the closet and for me I realized that time had passed it by. There was just too many putters for me based on newer technology the left the old bulls eye behind. YMMV.

I pick them up whenever I see them at the thrift store. I have none left because I sold them to someone on this site. There is usually someone interested in them from time to time. I buy quite a few things that I don't need but some of you do.

I couldn't imagine moving backwards in putter technology.

I used to have a few of them that I inherited and may still have one left. To me they looked sort of cool in my office, but I didn't really care for putting with them. When my putting gets truly horrible (rather than just the normal bad) I will break out an old flowneck blade to force me to concentrate, but otherwise I prefer the newer stuff.

      KCee

Yeah, my brother in law gave one to his neighbor who watches his new house in Florida. The guy said, cool I’m going to hang it on the wall. Lol

Using one in his office and on the practice green it did feel soft. Brass has a nice soft feel to it. No one uses brass anymore.

He has several including one made for Titleist by Scotty Cameron and others made by Wilson and Spaulding etc.. If I were to use a retro club it would be a putter.

He paid the most for the Cameron $49.00. Most are in the $12.00 to $20.00 range.

Subsonic I still have a soft spot for the old Zebra putter. I can putt as well with one as I can with anything else.

I still have the original Zebra my wife gave me for Christmas MANY years ago, when they first came out! It still
looks great (to me!) at address, and I practice with it occasionally. The face feels pretty hard though compared
to milled putters or Odysseys with face inserts. Also, I still use those black & white knit Zebra headcovers, since
I tend to use small mallets.

fatshot That is awesome! Zebra for the win! If I see a Zebra in a used club bin I always end up buying it. I took one out yesterday and curled some putts in with it.

Subsonic I took the old Zebra out today for 9 holes, and actually putted pretty well with it (holed
a birdie putt and a couple of 1-putt par saves!). It LOOKS great at address, but doesn't feel quite as good as my gamer though.....nice to have options though....!

fatshot zebras have a unique feel for sure but they roll the rock well. Pretty advanced in their day with adjustable weighting etc.

Be careful though, the soft brass seemingly always needed tending to back in the day.

Countless amount of time, with a folded over towel in the parking lot "adjusting" loft, lie and sometimes face angle by smacking it ion the towel until you got it where it needed to be.

The 18 year old me working at LaQuinta Hotel and CC and LaQuinta CC at the same time (different days), that is where I first met Tom Watson who asked me for a ride in m cart to the Clubhouse during the Bob Hope Desert Classic.

As I loaded his giant Ram Staff Bag in the cart, he said... "wait a minute kid", pulled out his Bullseye Original and proceeded to "adjust" the hell out of it right in the parking lot.

SMT Mine, too. For some reason I putt great with the La Femme.
