In my eternal quest for a 3 wood I can hit consistently, I've come across this club. Watched a few video reviews and some of the distance the testers were getting were insane, especially considering its a shorter and higher lofted club. Anyone here try one? Just curious if the hype is real.

I have one, but have come to find out it is playing 1.5" shorter than it's supposed to be. That said, I really like it, esp. with the smaller head; more of a 'tour' model type fw head.
I do need to change out the shaft though as the one in it is not a good one. Nor is it what came in them new. It is a Riptide, and everyone here knows me and Project X hate one another.
But, it is a hammer when struck well, with a nice sound, and distance. I expect a better performance after re-shafting. I'm keeping my eyes open for another, but they are hard to find cheap.

Only 1 bad thing I've found about this club. It has a slightly open face, and fades way too much; to the extent I aim way left in order to get to where I want to be, and I'm losing yards by having to do such. I'm thinking the shaft to be the culprit. If it is not, it will go down the road. I do not need a fade/loss of distance. And I normally will have open face clubs in my bag, and never fade them.

Thanks for the input Rex, if you ever come across a 17 deg head, let me know. You're right, hard to find a decent deal on one, especially for me up north.

I play a fade because I can't hit a draw and I prefer an open face because a closed face gets me in trouble at times with the dreaded double cross. Might have to wait until prices come down. I was actually looking up reviews for the 16 deg epic super hybrid and came across comparisonn videos with the apex uw and it just blew away the epic super hybrid.

sdandrea1 That's pronounced UNICORN in my world......

3 wood… hardest club in the bag to hit. Once you find one you can it, NEVER sell it. That’s the reason I still have my Ping TISI TEC 3 wood.

I think a good Papa D hunt would be for an OG Adam’s Tight lies 3 wood…. Those were the easiest to hit fairway woods ever made.

I demoed one on the sim and really liked it, but I was hitting everything well that day. Keep thinking about looking through CPO for one, but I have been doing ok with my 4W and Rogue X hybrid.

I had a 19* for a short time. It was a bomber but not consistent enough for me. One swing it would go as far as my 4 wood and the next swing it was like a 3 iron. I probably should have given it more time but I don't have enough patience.

          Great to look at
No hook or over draw shots
          Great feel and sound

Typhoon 3 wood… hardest club in the bag to hit. Once you find one you can it, NEVER sell it.

I use one a lot. Do I hit it 'well'....yes, for what I want it to do. I bought it brand new, and the past 3 seasons I've gone through a lot of the new stuff trying to find the one I could actually hit better. Not happening, and this old club is never leaving me.

They really need to quit this 'pancake' head thing they have going on, with FW clubheads. imo, it's the reason people can no longer use them. Mine is a 'tour' model head. Smaller footprint, great to look down at, not all that tall in the face, and the ball jumps from the rough. Can't do that with the new stuff.

KCee CPO cannot keep them in stock. I've been looking. Sometimes a 17 will show up, but usually not at a price I want to pay. I found my 19 there and it was an outrageous deal.

Thing about Callaway clubs I've found is that you can beat hell outta them and they never look used. And, they work great.

Par4QC Yes lack of stock has been a deterrent for me too. My Rogue X hybrid has been good to me once I got used to it. A bit draw biased, but it's controllable, forgiving and long. I liked the XR16OS hybrids I had too.

sdandrea1 Me too. I just bought an XR16 4 wood with senior shaft. It goes as far if not farther off the tee than my 3 woods. But there is a directional issue so far, so it’s not in the bag.
