DC300 I keep hearing people say how the JandJ vaccine was more 'traditional' but it just isn't true.
The JandJ vaccine was not a traditional subunut vaccine, it was a viral vectored vaccine, a style of vaccine that had never been previously used in humans.
It was just as new as the mRNA vaccines, but it was a different type of new, I guess, that somehow made people think that it wasn't new. I don't know how their marketing pulled it off, but the message that it was 'more traditional' definitely stuck, even though it was a complete falsehood.
The other thing people liked was that it was a single shot instead of a series, but that, too, was a lie. It was originally intended to be a shot followed by a booster, but it took them longer to get their human trial up and running and if they had gone through with the original study plans, by the time they got their results it would have been too late. So they crunched their 'halfway' numbers and saw efficacy that was in the 70s and decided to just go for it. They also realized that there were a lot of poeple out there who would be happy to have 20-25% lower efficacy in exchange for one fewer shot.
