I started 2021 out with a fall that jammed my shoulder bad enough to partially dislocate it, tear the bicep tendon and ligament as well as tearing the rotator. I had surgery in June and am still working on getting a golf swing back. My wife had a mammogram in (I think it was) the first part of August and her Dr. called her and said they needed to do a biopsy on a lump that was discovered. Yup, it was cancer. She had a lumpectomy and breast reduction (to make both breasts the same size after surgery). Thank God she was well endowed before surgery because she still has decent sized breasts. She fought the breast cancer all winter and in February she was declared cancer free. She had put off a colonoscopy to fight the breast cancer but decided that that she had to have it done so last month she had the colonoscopy. Yup, the Dr. called and when we met with him he told us that there was a polyp too large to remove during the colonoscopy so he had taken a biopsy and sent it to be evaluated. He said that it came back as cancerous
and she needed to have surgery to have a portion of her colon removed. That was done two weeks ago and he says that he's sure he got it all and she wouldn't need chemo or radiation. This past Sunday night she developed a fever and on Monday morning during her shower she discovered that a couple of the staples used to close her incision were leaking blood. I called the clinic and they said to bring her over and they would check her over. Among other things, they performed a CT Scan to check how the surgery and bowel resection were doing. The Dr. said it was good news, all the surgical sites were doing splendidly but, her gall bladder was swollen quite large. They wanted to do more tests. I had to leave her in the hospital again Monday afternoon. She's still there and had an ultrasound done this morning. The Dr. said that if the walls of her bladder looked like they had gotten thicker that she would likely need to have her gall bladder removed. She's had quite a bit of pain in her lower stomach and the upper right side of her stomach area where the gall bladder is. The Dr. says that the ultrasound didn't show any thickening but he still suspects that her gall bladder is the "culprit". He's ordering another test that a tech. from a larger hospital needs to perform and that tech. will be at the hospital she's at on Thursday. So now we are waiting until that test can be performed and read to tell us if her bladder needs to be removed or if they will hope to solve the situation with antibiotics when the "culture" of the infection that is in her bladder tells them what thy are fighting. The culture will take another day or two (at least) to develop enough to tell them what it is. I'm almost scared to look forward to the rest of this year. I guess it's my turn again, she's had enough.
