Spartan garyt1957 I think there is a database of allowable words and a separate, smaller database of possible solution. For example, solutions don't include plural words such as "balls" but it would accept that as a guess.
Stu1961 3 Outsmarted myself again today ... the answer was the first thing to pop into my mind after my first guess (3 letters in correct location), but I took the safer route and entered a word that would better guarantee I didn't end up with a 5 or 6.

fatshot I'm getting more and more pissed at this game! It seems like it's becoming more "resistant" to my starting words. Also, I'm getting more words I've never even heard of, more double letter words, etc. Getting harder to "beat the system" lately.....
