I happen to be getting laid off in October. I'm looking for other jobs in the company. As of now I get 40 weeks of severance. If I stay with the company in another division, no severance, or I get severance until I actually start in that new position and then severance stops.

If I get a job somewhere else I can actually collect severance for 40 weeks while getting a check for another job as well. Another option.

Now here's the opportunity... The course I have played at all my life and know everyone there will be looking for a new head pro. I inquired about it with the management company that runs it and I have a meeting with one of them this Saturday. They said they don't need to have a PGA pro in there. Everyone at the course is grabbing me all excited that I'm talking with them. So they have a management company that runs 8 other courses. The course itself is owned by the town. I would get a check year round. Typically the open in March and close in December.

So here is where I need you guys:
1. What should I ask for questions. I've never run a golf course. I've been in sales and management of a sales team for the last 18 years and I work at an Indoor golf facility since the 1990's.
2. I'm worried about taking my " happy place" and turning it into my job.

Its pretty laid back from what I can see. I could get out for my 9 hole rounds with my group. They don't run tournaments, don't have memberships because its a town owned place. The current guy is hated....he doesn't do lessons even though its listed on the website. Lessons, you get all the money. There is no driving range but I've seen lessons done by previous guys so I could work it in. Judging by the car he drives, the money might suck. But like my wife says, you'd get paid from them and collect 40 weeks severance.
