The Best Gift Ever! Are you searching for an extra special holiday20gift for that someone special? How about a golf course custom designed by Jack Nicklaus in your backyard? It only costs a $1 million or so and was listed in the 2008 Christmas Book from Neiman Marcus. Just make sure you read the fine print, because the $1 million does not include construction and site preparation costs.
Wondering what some of the other gift suggestions are? Let’s see … life-size his and her Lego sculptures, a Dallas Cowboys Texas Stadium end zone, and a chance to play with the Harlem Globetrotters.

Kudos to Harbour Town Golf Links Congratulations to Harbour Town Golf Links at Sea Pines Resort, which has been ranked at No. 10 among the Top 50 Resorts for Parents and Kids in the Fall/Winter issue of Travel & Leisure Family magazine. Thousands of readers voted in the annual poll, and Sea Pines was the only resort on the Atlantic Ocean to crack the Top 10. Wow! It also was cited as the most affordable in that group.

Presidents and Golf As the country welcomes a new president, we thought it would be fun to take a look at presidents and their love of golf. Brent Kelley of About.com Golf wrote an interesting blog post (http://golf.about.com/b/2008/11/07/president-elect-obama-the-new-golfer-in-chief.htm) on the topic, and he notes that “Calvin Coolidge was the worst of the golfing presidents, and that John F. Kennedy was the best. There’s no question that Dwight Eisenhower – an Augusta National member – was the most-dedicated golfer.”
So far the general consensus is that President Elect Obama is a so-so golfer. Check out this YouTube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5vQ2bNmAJY) of his swing. What do you think? I guess he’ll have to prove his skills both on the course and off!0 commentsLog in to post a comment! -

Turn Your Basement Into a Mini Golf Range If the kids are already getting bored inside as colder days are coming more and more often, consider creating an indoor mini golf range to keep them entertained. It’s becoming a popular idea and a way that parents can share their love of golf with their kids.
Check out this article from the Hilton Head Island Packet for more details on getting started and other winter fun ideas indoors.

The Grass is Greener... The Southeast is blessed with beautiful year-round weather. The hot, humid summers combined with mild winters, plenty of sunshine and moderate amounts of rainfall make it the perfect breeding ground for Bermuda grass. Bermuda grass is a warm seasonal perennial grass adapted to tropical and subtropical climates. It grows best under extended periods of high temperatures, mild winters and moderate to high rainfall. Many of the courses on Hilton Head Island and throughout the Lowcountry rely on Bermuda grass in both the fairways and on the greens.
Harbour Town Golf Links, site of the annual Verizon Heritage on the PGA Tour, the highly-regarded Long Cove Golf Club, The Robert Trent Jones Course at Palmetto Dunes, Oyster Reef Golf Club and the Golf Club at Indigo Run are just a few of the courses using Bermuda.

Is there a way to help me line my putter up to correctly? When putting a method that most tour players use is to pick an intermediate target on the green between your ball and the hole. This may be a spot on the green such as an old ball mark, difference in the color of the green or other small spots that stand out. The intermediate target will be the line that you want the ball to travel on based on how the putt breaks. Sometimes on longer putts you can pick two targets and play connect the dots when you putt. This should help you start the ball on line off the putter and you will find yourself making more putts.
