Hey Samsdad, We require that you enter both the distance and direction of your drives because we feel it’s important to plot them on your Fairway Stats chart. This chart is located on the Club Stats tab in Game Tracker and gives you a graphical representation of what you do off the tee. We think this is much more useful to you than just a fairway percentage. Since drives with no distance can not accurately be represented on this chart, we felt including them in your fairway % might be confusing. Also if you do not enter 1st putt distance it will not have an impact on your overall stats. You will just be missing out on one attribute of your putting stats.

Thanks for addressing my questions so quickly. I agree with your answers and that makes a lot of sense. Just one more thing though…In gaging diving distance, how would you recommend recording this statistic? I don’t want to take up a whole lot of time trying to figure out driving distances especially when playing with a group. I noticed when recording them today, it was difficult getting yardage quickly or accurately, especially in the rough as I was measuring my distance left to the green and subtracting that from the total hole distance. Dog legs also seemed to be a problem and they were also rough estimates based on my distance to the pin…which isn’t the most accurate way to calculate drive distance. Would a range finder help in this respect by basing the driving distance from the tee rather than the green? Are they quick too?
Also, aside from walking off every single putt, any recommendations on measuring putting distance outside 15-20ft besides taking time to walk it off (and looking like a nutjob and slowing everything down :-) )
Thanks again,
SD

SD,
Since the FW % requires driving distance, I use my best judgement on distance and use a laser for drives that are within 225 of the green.
For long putts, another stat program recommended to walk halfway to the ball and double the distance. This is a good tip for two reasons. You have an estimated distance to add to your visual before you stroke the ball and a good putting routine would include viewing the putt from the side angle.
Hi,
Just signed up to golfbuzz and I really like the amount for stats this site generates for free!
Just a quick question…I was entering in a round yesterday and noticed that without actually puting in ‘Driving distance’ variables, it will not count or calculate a FiR…just puts N/A
Just wondering why that is since I did not record driving distances with my round but I at least know if it was in the fairway or not, but is not reflecting this. Also i didn’t record 1st putt distance…wonder if that will have an impact on a stat it really shouldn’t.
Thanks for any help!
